Agbada Clothing and Her True Origin

Agbada is a four-piece male or female outfit found among the Yoruba of the South-western part of Nigeria and the Republic of Benin, West Africa. It consists of a large, free-flowing outer robe (awosoke), an undervest (awotele), a pair of a trouser (sokoto), and a hat (fila).

Sounds great, right?

ISI-AGU "An Ancient Native Outfit with plenty Modern Twists"

The Isi-Agu which means Leopard Head, is a printed fabric with a Lion or Leopard symbol on it. This is because formerly it was the Leopard that appeared on the prints, but this has been replaced with the image of a Lion because it is said in Igbo that “Odum na egbu agu” meaning a lion kills a leopard.
